TMI - Trek to Dukes Nose and descend to Khandala on 3rd June 2012

Hey Mates,

We at Trek Mates India have arranged a One day trek to Dukes Nose on 3rd June 2012 &  Descend to Khandala.




Little info about Dukes Nose 
Grade: Easy (Perfect for first timers)
Region: Lonavala
Base Village: Kurwande

Dukes nose is a huge pinnacle which can be seen while travelling between Mumbai and Pune. It's shape is like a nose or a thumb. The sights from the top are unique and magnificent as one sees a vast landscape and the winding Mumbai Pune Express Highway cutting through the ghats and trains chugging along the tracks. It si famous for rock climnbing, valley crossing and rappelling adventure activities.





The Itinerary for the trek is given below: 


Meeting Point For Mumbai People:
Thane stn at 6.00 am at platform no 5, below the indicator.
We will be Starting for lonavla, by indrayani express at 6.14 am. from Thane
Participants can board Indrayani Express from other stations too. The timing are as follows -
CSTM : 05:40 am
Dadar : 05:51 am
Thane : 06:14 am
Kalyan : 06:35 am
Karjat : 07:15 am
Reach lonavla at 8.05 am

Meeting Point For Pune People:
Lonavala Stn at 8.05 am
Tea, breakfast at lonavla stn
Travel till kuruvande (base village) by auto/jeep.
Ascend to dukes nose

Descend till khandala
Start our return journey back to Pune/Mumbai.
We will be back to Pune/Mumbai by 8 pm tentatively.
Note: There are chances of insect bite so we suggest you to wear full clothes.

The cost for the trek is Rs 250/- per head which includes
Travelling from Lonavala stn onwards and back till Lonavala,
Breakfast and evening refreshments.
Train fare has to be taken care of by the members themselves.
Pune people will can join us directly at Lonavala.

Identity proof (must)
Lunch For Sunday,
A bottle of water (atleast 1 Ltr),
Towel, a napkin, Extra Pair of clothes
Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.
Camera(Optional)
Cap, etc.
Medicine those if u require usually (Optional)
Good trekking shoes,
A haversack to put in all the things to be carried....so that one has ones hands free while trekking.
Please do not carry sling bags or Jholas.
Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments.
Windcheaters,

Rains showers are expected, so pack your bags accordingly to save them from getting wet. Double pack your valuables in plastic bags.

We follow a strict policy of "no trace" trekking, "Take nothing but memories and photographs, leave nothing but footprints".
Do Not Litter: Participants are requested to carry the waste back to the city and dispose it off in dustbins.
No Smoking, tobacco and alcohol: Smoking cigarette, chewing tobacco or related products and consuming alcohol is strictly prohibited on the trek. Anyone found in possession of the same or consuming it will be expelled from the trek. NO REFUND will be provided.
(Smoking will only be permitted before the trek starts and after the trek is over with prior consultation of the Leader and the person will have to move away from the group to smoke.)
Respect the Heritage: Participants should not deface or damage any monument by writing or scribbling on them. Please help us to conserve and preserve our heritage along with our trek mates.
Be a group: It is of utmost importance that all participants stick together in the group, in the event of any ‘deviation’ by the participant without the consent of the ‘Trek Leader’, he/she/they will be considered as ‘Independent/s’ and will no longer be considered as a part of the group.
Pay attention: Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage.

In case of any injury, sickness, accident, death or any other casualty or loss or damage of valuables or luggage or any equipment; Trek Mates India, it’s instructors, organizers, volunteers or any other person involved wholly or partially, either individually or jointly, shall not be responsible in any manner for the same and no claims of the participants, parents, guardians, relatives or friends of participants will be entertained.

Any violation of the above rules will be dealt with seriously, and may involve expulsion from the trek or event, and no refund is admissible in such cases.
Adventure activity is arranged considering normal weather. In case of occurrence of any natural calamities, if event is cancelled, in such circumstances NO REFUND will be provided.


The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained.

TMI : Second Batch - CROCODILE SAFARI @ GOVALKOT – MALDOLI BACKWATER , GUHAGAR BEACH ON 9th June to 10th June 2012


THANK YOU FOR THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO Crocodile safari. ON YOUR DEMAND WE, AT TREK MATES INDIA HAVE PLANNED FOR THE SECOND BATCH FOR crocodile safari FROM 9th june  TO 10th june 2012, leaving on 8th june night.



Some information about the area:

The places that will be visiting are:

1.  Crocodile Safari @ Maldoli

2.  Guhagar Beach
3.  Govalkot Fort (if time permits)

Little info about the place : 


Govalkot – Maldoli Backwater :- Famous for Crocodile Safari (one can see the rare salt water crocodile in a natural habitat).


This village is situated on the bank of Vashishti river which gives you a feeling of being in Kerala. The small small villages on the banks of this river the picturesque nature the small islands in the back waters of the river, the peaceful climate far away from the noisy cities, the silent flowing water, soothing climate makes you forget the entire remaining world. But nowadays the tourists are more attracted to see the crocodiles in the river.
Many year before Ships from Arabcountries used to come at Karambavane harbour from their the goods were Transported to chiplune market in small boats and carraiages called at Maldoli. 



Then they were carried in bullockcarts to the market Since the goods were transported in Maldolis from this village the village came became Maldoli.A carriage Made Specifically to carry goods



Guhagar Beach

The town is in Ratnagiri district known for its virgin beach, coir items, coconuts, betel nuts and mainly Haapus Alphanso mangoes. The nearest city and railhead is Chiplun, about 44 kilometres away. The economy of Guhagar boomed after the Dabhol Power Company, a few kilometres north was commissioned in the early 1990s. Hotels sprung up and residents were given well-paid jobs.
Guhagar beach is a white sand beach which is 6- 7 km long beach. It is situated within 200 metres from Guhagar town. This beach is safe for swimming. It offers a perfect place for sunbath, relaxation and meditation. The  offshore chat stalls make this beach an ideal spot for spending vacations.



Sighting of Crocodile in safari is not Guaranteed / Commitment. Its just a pure luck OR your fortune. 



Last Batch got the sighting of 2 Baby Crocodiles .

Day 1, 8th June, Friday, 2012:


Swami Narayan Mandir, Outside Dadar Central Station (E) at 10.30pm on Friday


Pickup Point : Chembur Diamond Garden, Near Yogi Hotel @ 11:00pm
Pikcup Point : Vashi Below Main Bridge  @  11:15pm
Pickup Point : Panvel ST Depot @ 11.45pm (For all Pune People)

Day 2, 9th June, Saturday, 2012:

Reach Maldoli
Check in and Get Fresh
Breakfast
Crocodile Safari Time
Lunch Time
Evening Time Enjoy Boating at Maldoli 
Dinner
Retire For the day.


Day 3, 10th June, Sunday, 2012:


Wake up @ 6.00am
After Breakfast
Check out and move to Guhagar
Guhagar Beach Time
Lunch @ Guhagar 
Leave for Mumbai by 2pm
Reach Mumbai @ 9.30 - 10pm

TMI : Monsoon One Day Trek To Kalavantin Durg on 3rd June 2012




Hi Mates, we at Trek Mates India are glad to invite you all for Monsoon One Day Trek to  Kalavantin Durg on 3rd June 2012 , Sunday.

Little Info About The Fort


Type : Hill Fort
Height : 2330 Feet above MSL (Approx)
Grade : Medium
Base Village:Thakurwadi
Region : Panvel  






Kalavantin Durg is situated on northeast side of Panvel, on Mumbai-Pune road. Can see it from express highway a V-Shaped one. The Left one is Kalwantin Durg & right side is Prabalgad.


The fort top commands an excellent view of the surroundings with Prabal in the front. Matheran, Chanderi, Shrimallang, Irshal Karnala, Manikgad, etc can be easily identified.


 Kalavantin durg is a adjoining hill (pinnacle) to Prabalgad

The tentative itinerary for the Event is as given below:

Meeting Point for Mumbai and Pune People :  


Panvel St Depot at 7am. on 3rd June 2012, Sunday.
Breakfast (Misal Pav or Poha) at Panvel 
After Breakfast  we move ahead to Base Village by Pvt Vehicle in next an hour so..
Introduction, instructions and start the trek
Reach the top in 3-4 hrs.
Lunch break.
Explore the fort and start descending by 2pm.
Reach the base till 5 pm.
Start our return journey and Reach Panvel by 6pm

The charges for the trek will be Rs 300/- per head, which includes

Travelling from Panvel to Panvel
Morning and Evening Refreshments
